Setting up a locally-installed information center for InfoSphere Information Server Version 11.3

Product documentation

Abstract

IBM InfoSphere Information Server documentation is located in the IBM Knowledge center at http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSZJPZ_11.3.0/. However, if your organization does not provide access to the internet, you can install a local copy of the documentation as an information center.

Installing and uninstalling the information center

You can install the IBM InfoSphere Information Server Information Center to your local machine for personal use, or you can install it on an internal server and access it from the network with an internal URL. Installing it on your personal machine allows you to view the content while you are disconnected from your network or while you have no access to the Internet. Installing it as a service on your internal network allows users on your internal network to view its content through a web browser.

To install the information center:

  1. If you plan to replace a previous installation of the IBM InfoSphere Information Server Information Center, uninstall the existing one first.
  2. From the is-suite/Documentation/information_center directory, extract the information center files from the is_installable_ic_linux_11_3.tar file if you are installing on Linux, or the is_installable_ic_windows_11_3.zip file if you are installing on Windows. Extract the files to a directory on the system where you want to install the information center. For example: /home/username/IBM/IIS_IC on Linux, or C:\IBM\IIS_IC on Windows.
  3. If you plan to host the information center as a service on an internal network, edit the customization_iehs.properties file and change the SETTING_HTTP_PORT parameter to the desired port number. By default, SETTING_HTTP_PORT is set to 9999.

To uninstall the information center:

  1. Navigate to the directory where the information center is installed.
  2. Stop the information center if it is running.
  3. Delete the contents of the folder where the information center is installed.
