Unable to log into cognos due to internal server errors

Problem(Abstract)

When attempting to log into cognos an internal server error is returned after entering the username and password. No errors recorded in the cognos logs. In the web servers log something like this is recorded:
Premature end of script headers: cognos.cgi, referer: https://<server>/crn/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi

Cause

Encryption keys are out of sync between gateway and application servers

Diagnosing the problem

Error Message in web server log:

Premature end of script headers: cognos.cgi, referer: https://<server>/crn/cgi-bin/cognos.cg


Resolving the problem

Regenerate the keys on all gateway servers. See TechNote 1342261 for steps.
